Playing sports is a healthy recreational activity. It helps you burn calories and maintain your ideal weight. However, accidents may happen during play and cause various injuries. If you sustain one, you may need to undergo sports therapy in Dedham.
What is Sports Therapy in Dedham?
Sports therapy in Dedham covers injury prevention and rehabilitation of a patient who suffered from an injury. This aspect of healthcare aims to bring a patient back to playing at his or her best.
Benefits of Sports Therapy in Dedham

Muscle weakness is one of the main causes of injuries. Sports therapy in Dedham is not just about rehabilitation. It also has exercises designed to maintain muscle strength and endurance for patients, and help prevent recurrence of previously sustained injuries. Sports therapy in Dedham can also boost a patient’s mental and physical performance
- Sports therapy in Dedham can prevent surgeries.
Depending on the severity, some injuries may need surgery while some would only require you to undergo sports therapy in Dedham. It is advisable that you get a doctor’s diagnosis as they are most qualified to determine the best treatment for your injury.
- Sports therapy in Dedham can help extend professional careers.
Injuries are common among professional athletes because they undergo grueling training sessions and play a lot of games. Eventually, their bodies will start to betray them. Sports therapy in Dedham can help injured athletes get back into shape and perform at an optimum level.
Common Sports Injuries
Sports hobbyists and professional athletes are prone to injuries. Here are some common injuries that may require sports therapy in Dedham:
- Sprained ankles may need sports therapy in Dedham.
Ankle sprain, a common injury among athletes, happens when you twist, roll, or turn your ankle. This type of injury can stretch or tear your ligaments, which hold your bones together. Sprained ankles may occur while playing sports, such as basketball, tennis, or football, which requires a lot of jumping, rolling, or twisting of the foot. See a doctor to examine sprained ankles. He or she may prescribe medicines or recommend sports therapy in Dedham depending on the severity of your injury.
- Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear requires sports therapy in Dedham.
ACL is one of the ligaments within the knee that connects the leg bone to the knee. Often, ACL injury happens during pivoting or landing from a jump. Sports therapy in Dedham is one of the ways to treat ACL injuries. With sports therapy, Dedham patients may avoid going through reconstructive surgery. However, it will still be based on the doctor’s diagnosis.
- Shoulder injuries may need sports therapy in Dedham.
Rotator cuff muscles hold our shoulder bones together. If you’re someone who plays baseball, basketball, and other sports that require repetitive overhead motions, you may sustain shoulder injuries like misalignment, dislocation, and ligament sprains. Visit a doctor for an assessment. He or she may recommend sports therapy in Dedham.
