Boston Physical Therapist

Our director, Dr. Michael J. Velsmid, holds the degrees of Doctor of Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions, Master of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Simmons College. Dr. Velsmid started his career as a physical therapist at the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1995. He specializes in sports and outpatient orthopedics and has extensive experience in rehabilitation of high-level competitive athletes, including marathon runners, triathletes, college varsity athletes of all sports, professional ballet dancers, figure skaters, and many others. He also provides custom orthotic fabrication. Dr. Velsmid founded Boston Sports Medicine in 1999 and since that time has carefully selected every clinician to replicate his quality of care. Visit him at our physical therapy Boston area clinics.
