MICHAEL J. VELSMID,
DPT, MS
President/Director
Dr. Michael J. Velsmid holds the degrees of Doctor of Physical
Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions, Masters in
Exercise Science from University of Massachusetts at Amherst,
and Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Simmons College.
Dr. Velsmid has practiced in the Physical Therapy field since
1995, and specializes in sports and outpatient orthopedics.
He has extensive experience in rehabilitation of high-level
athletes, including marathoners, college varsity players, professional
ballet dancers, figure skaters and many others. He also provides
custom orthotic fabrication. Dr. Velsmid is a NECACCE award-winning
clinical educator. He is an avid skier, and has successfully
completed the Boston Half-Marathon in 2003. Dr. Velsmid founded
Boston Sports Medicine, Inc. in 1999. |

CHRISTOPHER GOETTEE, DPT

Clinical Educator
Chris Goettee holds the degrees of Doctor of Physical therapy from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in General Health Sciences from Purdue University. His clinical experience includes sports and orthopedic physical therapy, as well as internships at Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's pediatric sports medicine facility. He enjoys running, and playing ultimate frisbee and basketball in his free time. |

JULIA LEBLANC,
DPT
Director of Clinical Services, Allston
Coordinator for Clinical Education
Julia LeBlanc received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree
from Simmons in August 2005. Dr. LeBlanc has clinical experience
in outpatient orthopedic medicine. In October 2005, she successfully
completed the Boston Half Marathon. Recreationally, she enjoys
pilates, ballet, snowboarding, waterskiing, and canoeing. |

JENNIFER GIULIANO,
MSPT
Staff Physical Therapist
Jennifer Giuliano received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 2002. Ms. Giuliano brings with her 5 ½ years of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics. Her areas of specialty are biomechanical evaluation, post-operative knee rehabilitation, and treatment of shoulder and knee injuries. Ms. Giuliano successfully completed the Danskin Triathlon and Boston Half Marathon in 2007. Most recently, she was a part of The American Liver Foundation’s Run For Research Marathon Team and successfully finished the 112th Boston Marathon. Ms. Giuliano is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In her free time, she enjoys running, pilates, traveling, watching hockey and the Boston Red Sox.

HEATHER JONES,
DPT
Staff Physical Therapist
Heather Jones earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree
from Boston University in May 2007. She completed her graduate
research in aquatic therapy for the rehabilitation of ACL
injuries. Dr. Jones brings clinical experience in outpatient
orthopedic and sports medicine. She enjoys playing tennis
and ultimate frisbee.

SHALINI KAPADIA, DPT
Staff Physical Therapist
Dr. Shalini Kapadia earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Boston University in 2009. She developed her sports and outpatient orthopedic skills at CATZ Physical Therapy Institute in Pasadena, CA and at Boston Sports Medicine. She also has an interest in pediatrics and completed an internship at Franciscan's Hospital for Children. Growing up, she played competitive soccer on a club team and in high school. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, going out to eat, spending time along the esplanade, traveling, and watching football. |

DAVID MERSON, DPT, ATC
Staff Physical Therapist
Dr. David Merson earned both a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2006 from Boston University. David brings clinical expertise from his work as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and his numerous orthopedic and sports oriented clinical experiences (high school, collegiate, and clinic based) to BSM. During his time at Boston University, David became a published author in Athletic Therapy Today, an athletic training peer reviewed journal, for his original case study. In his spare time, he works as a member of the volunteer game day operations staff for the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.
